Alonissos Island tour
Alonissos is the third island in the Northern Sporades islands we come across. Its surface is rocky and only Southeastern parts of the island are “smooth”. Alonissos’ name is based on the ancient word “als” which means “sea”, “sea-island.” An ideal place for vacations and relaxation, owing to its natural beauty.
Alonissos Town (Chora)
It has a few permanent residents and is located 3km (1,9 miles) from Patitiri, which Is the island’s capital. Alonissos Town is built on a cone-shaped hill where the view is outstanding. A promenade through the narrow alleys of the Old Capital (which was almost destroyed by the 1965 earthquake, was abandoned and later reinhabited), with houses very similar to those found in Pilio (Pelion), the magnificent view, the stone-roof churches, exceed any stretch of the imagination and expectation!!!
