Lakis rooms are located at Megalo Papigo, Zagoria, in the village centre at an altitude of 980m / 10,457ft. The complex is made up of a building with two separate floors built at different time periods. The hostel which is located on the top floor, was built in 1985, according to the traditional Zagoria architecture, and with the supervision of the GNTO (Greek National Tourism Organization). It has wooden floors and ceilings, as well as many windows, thus providing a lot of natural light.
It offers its guests 5 double rooms, some of which can be converted into triple and quad rooms.
All rooms are fully equipped, beautifully decorated with wooden furniture and have an unobstructed view of Astraka, the shelter, the Vikos Gorge, and the marvelous church of St. Vlassis, with its magnificent bell tower which welcomes you to the village. The rooms feature a bathroom, television, fridge, heating at 20 degrees approximately, daily cleaning, and fenced in parking. Also, all the rooms have linens, and offer the possibility for a coffee or tea. In the breakfast room, breakfast is served until 10.30, which consists of coffee, milk or tea-egg-marmalade-honey-cheese-cake or flour pita.On the bottom floor, which is the oldest construction of the building, there is a café in operation for decades, where the transportation of the village has its starting point for Ioannina. Now it is both a cafe and mixed goods shop which caters to all the village.
Right next door a traditional cafe is in operation, where you can enjoy a soft drink as well as greek coffee or mountain tea, which in the summer is available in the yard...
...under the vine leaves with a view of Astraka, and Little
Papigo, and in the winter indoors, next to the fireplace, whose
flames evoke voyages into other times which we have heard of
from the stories told to us by our elders.
